I am about to embark on the construction of a 23′ wooden boat.  This personal blog is simply to record the nitty gritty details of the build process for me and anyone coming after me.  The design is the Belle Isle 23 from Glen-L.

I chose this boat for several reasons:

1. I love the barrel back look of classic Chris Crafts.
2. The boat will live at Torch Lake, MI, which has a fine collection of other wooden boats.
3. Seating for 8 works well with our family.
4. The boat is made for cruising more than performance.  The family already has a ski boat, so we don’t need another performance boat.
5. There is a fellow who lives near me that built this boat…I figure I could always ask him for advice!
